Oppo Reno 6 Pro+ Spotted on Geekbench Ahead of May 27 Launch, Specifications Leaked

Oppo Reno 6 Pro+ has now been spotted on Geekbench further leaking specifications of the phone, ahead of the anticipated launch of the phone as a part of the Oppo Reno 6 series launch on May 27 in China. The Oppo Reno 6, Oppo Reno 6 Pro, and Oppo Reno 6 Pro+ are the three phones that are expected to debut, and the phones have been listed on JD.com and Suning ahead of going official. The Oppo Reno 6 Pro+ is rumoured to be the most premium model of the three.

The Oppo Reno 6 Pro+ was spotted on certification site Geekbench, with the model number PENM00. The listing tips that the phone is powered by a processor codenamed ‘kona’. Earlier rumours had suggested that the Oppo Reno 6 Pro+ would be powered by the Snapdragon 870 SoC. However, this premium model could also feature the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, given that the previous version, the Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ 5G, is powered by the Snapdragon 865 SoC. The ‘kona’ chipset is listed to have a base frequency of 1.8GHz and an octa-core CPU.

The benchmarking site has also listed the Oppo Reno 6 Pro+ to run on Android 11 software and pack 12GB of RAM. The phone scored 4649 single-core points and 12712 multi-core points on Geekbench.

On TENAA, the Oppo Reno 6 Pro+ is listed with the same PENM00 model number and is tipped to feature a 6.55-inch display. The phone is tipped to pack a 2,200mAh dual-cell battery. Dual-cell battery of 2,200mAh means the phone may pack a 4,500mAh battery in total capacity.

Oppo Reno 6 Pro+ is expected to feature a full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) OLED hole-punch display with 90Hz screen refresh rate. The cut out for the selfie camera is placed on the top left corner of the display, and the display is reported to be curved at the edges. Furthermore, Oppo Reno 6 Pro+ is expected to pack 65W fast charging support and measure at 160.8×72.5×7.99mm.

Vivo Could Be Working on a Phone With MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC, Geekbench Listing Shows

Vivo could be working on a phone with model number V2123A, as per an alleged Geekbench listing. The benchmarking site shows the moniker Vivo V2123A, but doesn’t disclose what the final marketing name of the phone could eventually be. The listing shows that the upcoming smartphone could be powered by the newly launched MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset. The 5G chipset is based on 6nm architecture, similar to the company’s Dimensity 1100 and Dimensity 1200 chipsets.

On Geekbench, Vivo V2123A scored 3,467 in the single-core tests and 8,852 in the multi-core tests. The Geekbench 4 listing for the Vivo smartphone was first spotted Nashville Chatter and independently verified by Gadgets 360. The listing also shows that the chipset is mentioned as ARM MT6877 that is the codename for the MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset. Further, the listing also mentions that the upcoming smartphone’s chipset could be paired with 8GB of RAM. It can be speculated that there could be more RAM variants on offer.

A report by Gizmochina states that the upcoming Vivo V2123A could be branded as Vivo X70 and it could be a mid-range device. It also speculates that Vivo may launch the smartphone as an iQOO-branded smartphone. Since there is no official confirmation from Vivo regarding the Vivo V2123A, this information should be taken with a grain of salt.

MediaTek recently announced the Dimensity 900 chipset as its latest 5G chipset offering. As mentioned, it is based on a 6nm architecture. MediaTek claims that the 6nm architecture makes it 8 percent more efficient than 7nm architecture chipsets. It has an octa-core setup with two ARM Cortex-A78 cores clocked at up to 2.5GHz and six ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 2GHz. To handle the graphics, the SoC is paired with the Mali-G68 MC4 GPU. The MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC can handle up to 120Hz with a full-HD+ display along with MediaTek MiraVision HDR technology.

Samsung’s official security updates section lists many smartphones under categories of monthly, quarterly, and biannual security updates. As mentioned, the phone is likely to be the global variant of the Samsung Galaxy Quantum 2 that launched in South Korea last month. There may be a triple rear camera setup headlined by a 64-megapixel primary sensor, accompanied by a 12-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide lens and a 5-megpaixel depth sensor. The Samsung Galaxy A82 5G could pack a 4,000mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging. It could also come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

While the Samsung Galaxy Quantum 2 comes with a host of security features, the global variant of the phone lose some of those.

Xiaomi to Donate Rs. 3 Crore for Oxygen Cylinders, OnePlus to Help Amplify COVID-19 Emergencies

India is in the throes of the pandemic once again with a record rise in COVID-19 cases and fatalities. The country’s medical infrastructure has nearly collapsed, with an acute shortage of hospital beds, oxygen, and urgent medication plaguing more cities every day. A few tech companies like OnePlus and Xiaomi have now come forward to help ease the burden. While OnePlus has started a social media campaign to amplify the appeals of those facing COVID-19 emergencies and seeking help on Twitter, Xiaomi has pledged Rs. 3 crore for relief efforts.

Many hospitals in the country are in desperate need of oxygen for COVID-19 patients and Xiaomi has pledged to donate more than Rs. 3 crore to procure 1,000+ oxygen cylinders. The company has said that it will donate the cylinders to hospitals or state governments wherever the need is more urgent. Among the state governments Xiaomi plans to help include are Delhi, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.

Xiaomi says that it is also partnering with donation platform GiveIndia to raise Rs. 1 crore to support frontline COVID-19 workers across the country. The donation page will be live on Mi.com for all fans, partners, and customers who can make their contributions. The company says that it has cut down its budget allocated for giveaways and social media promotions to help raise the money.

OnePlus has announced that it will use its social media leverage to help COVID-19 victims. In a tweet, the company announced that it will use Twitter to amplify any COVID-19 related request or lead that can be of use to patients and families looking for relief. For amplifying requests and leads, users need to tag OnePlus India (@OnePlus_IN) in their tweets and use #COVIDEmergency to have their messages amplified. Indians could use this to reach to a larger audience, and get help with hospital beds, oxygen, plasma, or any other related issue.

Twitter has been an important platform for users looking for help. Even some Facebook and WhatsApp groups have been actively volunteering to help people connect with each other to help procure oxygen, hospital beds, or funds.

The government now plans to open COVID-19 vaccine registrations for all aged above 18 from April 28, and here’s how all eligible citizens can register.
